You will find information explaining how weather factors influence the flying conditions around Fiesch under <a title=\"Winds\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/?page_id=23\">Winds<\/a>.\u00a0 Please be aware that my agenda is not to spot the really excellent days when it\u2019s worth making a special effort to travel to Fiesch, but to identify when the chance of decent flying conditions is low, so that it makes more sense to make other plans!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The weather information on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shv-fsvl.ch\/en\/education\/foreign-licence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Schweizerischer H\u00e4ngegleiter Verband website<\/a> can be quite useful, especially the forecasts for winds at various altitudes over the course of the day.\u00a0 Also the sailplane forecast, published there at 5:30 every day, mentions factors such as expected thermal strength and inversions, which are not easily found elsewhere, but it doesn\u2019t take account of local factors which may dominate over the general conditions.\u00a0 You can obtain access for a three month period for CHF 30, which you may appreciate if you intend to stay in Switzerland for some time.\u00a0 However, at the time of writing (April 2026) I understand that this facility is about to be phased out and replaced by <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=ch.shv_fsvl&amp;hl=de_CH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the SHV app<\/a>, which I have just installed on my phone and will be checking out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I can also recommend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilloutparagliding.com\/index.php?id=588\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chillout<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meteo.flypara.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Flypara<\/a> (optimised for smartphone) which have lists of meteo links which you can check out; although they are in German, most of the weather information which they contain is in diagrammatic form and therefore comprehensible without linguistic skills.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Many Swiss pilots who use their smartphones to access live weather data whilst flying subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burnair.cloud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burnair<\/a> but I use XCTrack Pro for that purpose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first two sub-pages in this section contains links to current meteorological data, separated into sites which I use to look ahead to try to anticipate conditions in the near future, and those which I look at the evening before &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/?page_id=387\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":388,"parent":58,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-387","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/387"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=387"}],"version-history":[{"count":22,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/387\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4193,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/387\/revisions\/4193"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/58"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/388"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.flyfiesch.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=387"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
